Registration and Hotels

Important

Housing is now closed. If you arrive in San Francisco without hotel arrangements, you may go to the East Lounge, Ballroom Level, Building 2, in the Hilton. A member of the MLA housing service will be there to help.

Any changes to your reservation must be made directly with your hotel. Please refer to the list below for contact information.

Members and nonmembers may preregister for the convention by submitting the registration form with their registration fee. There will be a nonrefundable charge of $5 for badges replaced at the convention.

The Committee on Disability Issues in the Profession (CDI) reminds attendees that refraining from using scented products will help ensure the comfort of everyone at the convention.

Registration is now closed. Please visit the registration areas in the Hilton (East Lounge, Ballroom level), the Marriott (north and south registration areas, lower B2 level), and the Fairmont (Garden Room, Lobby level) to register on site.

Convention Locations

Most English sessions and the exhibits are in the Hilton San Francisco. Most foreign language and comparative literature sessions are in the San Francisco Marriott. The Job Information Center and child care are in the Fairmont San Francisco.

Registration Fees

Both 2008 and 2009 members are eligible for members' rates for the convention.

Student registration fees are partially subsidized by income from advertisements in the Job Information List.

Registration Refunds

Requests for refunds must be made in writing, accompanied by unused convention badges with receipt attached, and postmarked no later than 26 December. If you paid by credit card, please supply the credit card number and expiration date in your letter to expedite your refund. Mail requests for refunds to MLA Convention Office, 26 Broadway, 3rd floor, New York, NY 10004-1789. A $10 service fee is deducted from all refunds.

About PDF Files  

Downloadable documents are in Portable Document Format (PDF). These files can be viewed, saved, and printed in identical form on most computers. Adobe Reader is free software for using PDF files. If it is not installed on your computer, you can download it from Adobe Systems. For those who use screen readers, recent versions of Adobe Reader include text-to-speech and other accessibility functions, and Adobe provides online tools that convert PDF files into HTML or ASCII text.
