The MLA's 124th annual convention will be held in San Francisco. Most English sessions and the exhibits are in the Hilton San Francisco. Most foreign language and comparative literature sessions are in the San Francisco Marriott. The Job Information Center and child care are in the Fairmont San Francisco.

Click here to register for the Convention.

The convention will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, 27 December, and end at 1:15 pm. on Tuesday, 30 December. All MLA members and others involved in the study or teaching of language and literature must register for the convention in order to attend or participate in meetings, visit the exhibit hall, utilize the job service, or reserve hotel rooms at special MLA rates.

The Committee on Disability Issues in the Profession (CDI) reminds attendees that refraining from using scented products will help ensure the comfort of everyone at the convention.

The 2009 MLA Annual Convention will be held in Philadelphia from 27 to 30 December. Both 2008 and 2009 members are eligible for members' rates for the convention.

Given the uncertainties in the airline industry and recent cutbacks in the number of flights, convention attendees may wish to make their travel arrangements earlier than in previous years. We have arranged discount programs with American Airlines and Continental Airlines for travel to the convention. The MLA encourages registrants to book their flights to San Francisco with Association Travel Concepts (ATC), the official travel coordinator for the MLA Annual Convention. ATC will also search for the lowest available fare on any airline. Please use the Travel Arrangements link under "2008 Convention" for more information.
